Music Influences-Chemistry of Hall & Oats meets Maroon 5 swagger.
Music influences can range from Hall & Oats to Maroon 5. The electronic pop duo RKVC have music influences that include not only Hall & Oats and Maroon 5, but also range from Dave Matthews Band to Incubus to Michael W. Smith. Also, the duo has been listening to a lot of David Guetta and collaborations with Sia. This is all in preparation for the new record they are writing to hopefully release in the spring.
Music influences don’t necessarily define who Rod Kim and Vince Cirino are or even imply they imitate them, just that these music influences have affected them enough for the consequence to be evident on the new record they are working on. Growing up with Michael W. Smith on the radio, Rod Kim had a firm foundation in smaltzy piano ballads. That all was rounded out by electro rockers like Aleixa and classics like the Beatles. Vince Cirino had a healthy dose of Boston and Dave Matthews Band but also had enough Incubus to make it weird. Both men of RKVC love the soulfulness of Sia both on her indie records and her mainstream collaborations such as Titanium and She Wolf.
In their live show, critics have likened their music influences to the chemistry that Hall & Oats have as well as the mood and swagger of Maroon 5. Electronic pop allows a lot of those diverse music influences to come together and will prove to be a strong new record from the duo when the new record eventually releases. Currently in the writing stage, the duo is still immersed in their music influences while working on the upcoming new record for spring. The Self-Deprecating Romantic Pop Rock Duo of RKVC bridges the gap between songs of heartbreak and love without making you want to jump off that bridge.
