Support Music – Original Music, Indie Music and Local Music.
Support music in your area – original music, indie music, local music and just good music in general. Many venues across the country are skeptical of musical talent that showcases their own original music. Additionally, venues are hesitant to risk booking talent they are unfamiliar with and/or is new to the region. Though these concerns are understandable from a business perspective, it also minimizes the potential for emerging talent to develop.
Here, set against the iconic New York City skyline, Rod Kim and Vince Cirino of romantic pop rock duo RKVC show up unannounced to a rooftop party in Hoboken and play an impromptu show. RKVC has never played this city before and the rooftop party is full of strangers. This impromptu show goes well from start to finish and has all the strangers of this rooftop party singing along to songs they’ve never heard before that night.
Which goes to prove a good point: musicians have a responsibility to write good music…you know, the kind people would listen to. When they’ve got that down, it’s worth the risk of showcasing that music to develop new music and talent. It’s something RKVC works towards with every new song, project and gig. The Self-Deprecating Romantic Pop Rock Duo of Rod Kim & Vince Cirino bridges the gap between songs of heartbreak and love without making you want to jump off that bridge.
We think the songs are pretty spiffy, and hope you do too. If you think they’re crap, that’s good too, at least you think about them. The true enemy of an artist isn’t negative feedback, it’s obscurity.
